Beckon Search Engine Attention With Keywords

Search engines are simply artificial intelligence. Keywords are the only way they can find what you write. To attract attention, you must intentionally incorporate keywords into your writing. Trust me, it’s as easily done as said.

Compile a list of keywords before writing your content. Finding out the popularity of keywords before you start will save you  hours of time in the editing process.

Google is an invaluable research tool for finding keywords you’d benefit most from using in your writing. Here’s a short list of what’s available:

  • googlekeywords Identifies the amount of keyword traffic.
  • googletrends Identifies phrases that are “hot”.
  • googlesuggest – Suggests keywords that are similar to ones that others are typing – helps to relate terms and accommodate typos.
  • googlewonderwheel – Simplifies and arranges search results.

Google Analytics (google.com/analytics/) provides a wealth of data on people clicking on your website including visitor data by location, search engine phrases they used and which pages they visit most often.

Yahoo Site Explorer (siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/mysites) monitors the number of links to your website and where they originate. You can also view who’s linking to your competitors. Racking up links from other websites helps with search engine position.

Wordtracker.com – Is similar to googlekeywords. You can enroll for a free trial, but this site has a fee for long-term use.

Why Write?

Great writing is hard to find. You’ll probably agree, it’s NOT what you regularly witness on the Internet. You don’t have to be just like Mike. Position yourself among the few who write what people actually want to read, and you’ll get noticed.

In his book “Socialnomics”, Erik Qualman coined the term: “world of mouth”. He described this as the impact that each of us has on the spread of information. In other words, the Internet and social media gives everyone a voice with a global reach.

Put information in front of people and let them start the conversation for you. Early growth of a brand and a business relies on “word of mouth”. You have to get your message in front of people who care. If you want people to talk about you, give them something to talk about. Here’s where exceptional writing becomes critical.

Next up: Where to start.

What’s in Your World of Mouth?

  • Do you have the best product anyone has ever developed?
  • Are your words more insightful than any guru’s in your field?
  • Do you have such a revolutionary idea that you can’t believe no one else has thought of it before?
  • Will your message change the way everyone sees the world?

Do you want to tell the world about it, or maybe just a few people in it?

If you’re like most everyone else, you’re putting your message out there on your blog, in your Facebook and Twitter pages, and maybe even in those articles you can post for free.

If you’re like most everyone else, you writing could be better. You don’t have enough power in your words.

Just admit it, and then do something about it.

You’re in the right place.

As a business owner marketing your company on the Internet, you need all-consuming attention from a following. It’s also one that so many readers sparingly give.

Using the power of your words, putting your message out there and getting it noticed has never been easier.

That’s the purpose of this blog.

More tomorrow.
